In honor of our slain, and recently resurrected forest overlord, Isak Heartstone, an award has been created to recognize an outstanding Breckenridge community member.
A little Background on Isak Heartstone. Isak is a beautiful creation from brilliant artist Thomas Dambo. Isak is more than scrap wood. He is a leader, a symbol, a community member we let down and have fought to protect. (eulogy here). A tiny group of people didn’t like Isak in his home and had him murdered. HOWEVER! In the “Spring” of 2019 Isak was reborn. Away from the negative few people, no causing any hassle of inconvenience, peaceful. We are grateful to the Town Of Breckenridge’s leadership for navigating this and bringing Isak home.
The Isak Heartstone Kindness Award
In honor of our beloved friend and noble wood-creature, the Breckenridge community has formally created the Isak Heartsone Kindness Award. This award will be given seasonally to a member of the Breckenridge community who demonstrates the traits that Isak had/has.
Traits include:
- Kindness
- Compassion
- Gratitude
- Empathy
- Understanding
- Positive Attitude
- Overall Trollness (Being just awesome)
Why should you be motivated to win this award you ask? Two reasons: If you have to ask the question evaluate your life, be kinder. Second, a jar of homemade pickles. If you have to ask about the pickles, you clearly haven’t had these homemade pickles. AND Meta Yoga has donated a free yoga class to support kindness!
We live in an amazing place. People who pick each other up when struggling, and love like a big smelly mountain family. Living out our dreams everyday, just like Isak does, watching over us. It is easy to get frustrated with tourists, traffic, housing-crisis, low-pay, but we are better than allowing anger and frustration to guide us. We Are Breck. This award recognizes people who rise above the negative and represent the positive, beautiful, and kindness of Breckenridge. Just like Isak Heartstone.
